After securing the best record in the sport, the Dodgers’ challenges continued in October. In the second-to-last regular-season series, Freeman sustained a badly sprained right ankle, one that usually takes four-to-six weeks to heal. He needed just one to get back out on the field.

24 The closest any Arizona professional team came to winning a championship was the NBA’s Phoenix Suns, who made it to the championship series in 1976 and 1993. The 1976 team lost to the Celtics in six games and the 1993 team lost to the Chicago Bulls in six games.

World series 2024 1 game
History pulsates in the postseason, all the more when iconic clubs clash. And Valenzuela’s death earlier this week only added to the emotional heft of what is taking place here. Prior to the first pitch, the Dodgers had two of their World Series MVPs — Steve Yeager (1981) and Orel Hershiser (1988) — honor Valenzuela’s memory by placing a ball on the mound, below where his No. 34 had been painted.
The 2024 World Series was the championship series of Major League Baseball’s (MLB) 2024 season. The 120th edition of the World Series, it was a best-of-seven playoff between the National League (NL) champion Los Angeles Dodgers and the American League (AL) champion New York Yankees. It was the Dodgers’ first World Series appearance and win since 2020, and the Yankees’ first World Series appearance since 2009. The series began on October 25 and ended on October 30 with the Dodgers winning in five games. Freddie Freeman was named the MVP of the series, tying a World Series record with 12 runs batted in (RBIs) while hitting home runs in the first four games of the series, including the first walk-off grand slam in World Series history in Game 1.
In the top of the ninth, Michael Kopech was sent in by Roberts to close out the ninth inning. He got the first two batters he faced to ground out but then gave up a hit to Torres that was caught at the wall by a fan. Instead of a home run, he was awarded second base on a fan interference call, and the game remained tied at 2–2. After a review, the call was upheld. After intentionally walking Juan Soto, Kopech was removed from the game and replaced by Blake Treinen, who got Aaron Judge to pop out, ending the inning. Yankees closer Luke Weaver pitched a perfect inning in the bottom of the ninth, sending the game into extra innings. In the top of the tenth, Treinen gave up a one-out single to Jazz Chisholm Jr. who then stole second base. Anthony Rizzo was intentionally walked, and Chisholm Jr. stole third. The next batter, Anthony Volpe, hit an RBI force-out that was bobbled by Tommy Edman, allowing Chisholm Jr. to score the go-ahead run, giving the Yankees a 3–2 lead.
The New York Yankees qualified for the postseason as the American League East division winner and the league’s first seed. In the American League Division Series, they defeated the Kansas City Royals in four games. In the American League Championship Series, they defeated the Cleveland Guardians in five games to win their 41st pennant in franchise history and return to the World Series for the first time since their championship season in 2009, putting an end to their 15-year World Series appearance drought.

The events of the game take place in the near future on a series of islands in both the Aegean Sea and the South Pacific. Altogether, the photorealistic environments presented in the game span nearly 104 square miles, making a perfect sandbox to get lost in.
A game that has been mostly forgotten by history thanks to GTA’s dominance, True Crime: Streets of LA is a lot like GTA 3, which was released two years prior. The main difference is that you play as a cop, rather than a criminal. Staying within the law is clearly less fun, even if you do have a massive version of LA to play around in.
For many fans of the Assassin’s Creed series, Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag was the high watermark that the other games in the series never reached. This is partly because it gave the player their own pirate vessel and allowed them to explore the open seas of a vast game world. Sure, other games in the series give players the ability to travel via ship, but not as a swashbuckling pirate.
Kingdom Come’s buggy launch and initially lighter content offerings rightfully contributed to its largely mixed initial reputation. Over time, though, many of those flaws have been fixed, and quite a bit of new content has been added. The result is something quite special.
We’ll soon discuss other open-world games that benefit from making you feel that something dangerous could be around any corner, but few other open-world games tie that feeling into their narrative quite like Shadow of Mordor does. Yes, the game’s use of deep cut LOTR lore is impressive, but it’s really the stories that you make as you establish and end rivalries that you’ll remember long after the credits roll. It also doesn’t hurt that those rivalry-driven combat sequences are bolstered by a brilliantly utilized Arkham-like fighting system.
