From the“Touhou Project” to parts of “NieR: Automata,” shoot em ups are basically mandated to be dishearteningly difficult. As one of the most highly regarded additions to the genre, “Ikaruga” has done a lot to cement shoot ‘em up’s reputation as being mainly for the hardcore crowd. https://zagrebarchaeologytourism.com/ Twitch reflexes are obviously crucial, but “Ikaruga” sets itself apart due to a mechanic that permits the main ship to switch polarity between black and white, providing immunity to the same colored enemies. Another FromSoftware eldritch nightmare, “Bloodborne” has its own set of difficulties to set it apart. Along with its gothic horror aesthetic, “Bloodborne” encourages an aggressive playstyle, rewarding you for dodging, countering, and striking from behind. Some key items, like healing Blood Vials or Silver Bullets, don’t come back after you die, which is horrendous when you’re fighting a tough boss, of which there are of course many. Speaking of which, would it have killed them to put lamps closer to the bosses?! And that opening level makes for a steep learning curve! No leveling up until you fight the first boss?! Sheesh…

Gerrit Cole was excellent over 6.2 innings, but some poor defense from the Yankees — including Cole himself — led to five unearned runs in the fifth. The Dodgers then took the lead for good in the eighth and got a stunning performance from their bullpen, especially Blake Treinen and Walker Buehler, to close it out.
• The Dodgers had to come back twice, trailing 5-0 and 6-5. They became the first team in postseason history to fall behind by at least five runs, erase that deficit, fall behind again and still win the game, per STATS. That’s in any postseason game, and the Dodgers did it in a World Series clincher.
• Buehler became the eighth pitcher with a win as a starter and a save in the same postseason series since saves were official in 1969. He joined Ranger Suárez in the 2022 NLCS, Clayton Kershaw in the 2016 NLDS, Madison Bumgarner in the 2014 World Series, Kevin Millwood in the 1999 NLDS, Orel Hershiser in the 1988 NLCS, Catfish Hunter in the 1974 World Series and Jack Billingham in the 1972 World Series.
“I feel great, I feel great,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said. “It’s about the guys that you have available. They’re all rested. So we have guys that can do up/down. So where we’re at , knowing there’s an off-day , we’re in a great spot with leverage relievers.”
Rodon has slotted in right behind Cole for the Yankees throughout the postseason, while Yamamoto will be available on an extra day of rest and shut down New York’s offense in his Game 2 start over the weekend.

• Tommy Edman got the scoring started with a homer in the second. Edman is the seventh Dodger with a World Series homer as a CF, joining Duke Snider (11), Pete Reiser, Taylor, Jim Wynn, Cody Bellinger and Hi Myers.
• With Soto and Hernández, this was the third time that two Dominican-born players homered in the same World Series game. The other two instances were both in 2011, when the Rangers and Cardinals faced off in the Fall Classic. Nelson Cruz and Albert Pujols went yard in Game 3, then Cruz and Adrian Beltré did so in Game 6.
Through two games against the Dodgers, Judge is 1-for-9 with six strikeouts. For the postseason as a whole, he’s 6-for-40 with 19 strikeouts. It’s a far cry from a regular season in which Judge’s 58 homers, 144 RBIs and 1.159 OPS made for one of the best performances by a right-handed hitter in history.

The Dodgers got on the board first in the second inning on Tommy Edman’s solo home run off Carlos Rodón. Soto evened the score in the top of the third but that’s where the offense stalled for New York. The Dodgers extended their lead later that inning on Teoscar Hernández’s two-run home run to the right field stands. Moments later Freddie Freeman — the hero of Game 1 — hit a solo shot to make it 4-1 Los Angeles.
